The athlete monitoring cycle: a practical guide to interpreting and applying training monitoring data.

چکیده
I wanT To monITor my aThleTe buT where do I sTarT? Given the relationships among athlete workloads, injury and performance, athlete monitoring has become critical in the high-performance sporting environment. Sports medicine and science staff have a suite of monitoring tools available to track how much ‘work’ an athlete has performed, the response to that ‘work’ and whether the athlete is in a relative state of fitness or fatigue. The volume of literature, coupled with clever marketing around the ‘best approaches’ to optimising athlete performance, has resulted in practitioners having more choices than ever before. Furthermore, the range of different practices used in sport and the lack of agreement between parties emphasise the importance of having a clear rationale for athlete monitoring. The aim of this paper is to provide a practical guide to strategic planning, analysing, interpreting and applying athlete monitoring data in the sporting environment irrespective of data management software.

Monitoring the athlete training response: subjective self-reported measures trump commonly used objective measures: a systematic review
BACKGROUND Monitoring athlete well-being is essential to guide training and to detect any progression towards negative health outcomes and associated poor performance. Objective (performance, physiological, biochemical) and subjective measures are all options for athlete monitoring. OBJECTIVE We systematically reviewed objective and subjective measures of athlete well-being. Objective measure...
متن کاملApplying Earlier Literacy Research in Iran to Current Literacy Theory and Policy
In this paper, I attempt to bring together approaches to literacy in theory and in practice, drawing upon various activities I have been involved in over the years–research in Iranian villages during the 1970s; linking research and theory to literacy policy, with particular reference to a contribution to the Unesco Global Monitoring Report in 2004 and involvement in an ongoing adult literacy tr...
متن کاملMonitoring Training Load to Understand Fatigue in Athletes
Many athletes, coaches, and support staff are taking an increasingly scientific approach to both designing and monitoring training programs. Appropriate load monitoring can aid in determining whether an athlete is adapting to a training program and in minimizing the risk of developing non-functional overreaching, illness, and/or injury. In order to gain an understanding of the training load and...
متن کاملHealth Monitoring for Composite under Low-Cycle Cyclic Loading, Considering Effects of Acoustic Emission Sensor Type
Composites have been widely used in the aerospace industry. Due to the requirement of a high safety for such structures, they could be considered for health monitoring. The acoustic emission approach is one of most effective methods for identifying damages in composites. In this article, standard specimens were made from carbon fibers and the epoxy resin, with the [03/902/...
متن کاملProviding comprehensive control chart for monitoring of linear and nonlinear profiles using functional data analysis.
Considering profiles as functional variables, two control charts are proposed for their monitoring in phase II. Due to its conformity with the nature of real-world profiles, applying functional model leads to proposed control charts obtained through functional data analysis techniques with desired features. These include simplicity in calculation and possibility of using them for different prof...
